We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Architect.
Business: Strategic Services IT
This role will support the realization of CTO & Cybersecurity IT strategic priorities such as
- delivering new IT services, exploiting current infrastructure technologies
- driving the migration of existing applications to our cloud platforms
- focusing on automation and repeatable design assets
- migrating away from non-strategic technology platforms
- Investigate new infrastructure technologies to meet the CTO & Cybersecurity business requirements.
- Provide technical governance over the Products used in HSBC through the Technical Reference Model (TRM)
- Provide service governance of both existing and new technical non-functional service definitions maintained within an Infrastructure Service Catalogue
- Write and review Infrastructure Architecture Designs
- Build, strengthen and manage relationships across HSBC IT Architecture, CTO and Cybersecurity Application areas on an on-going basis
- Keep up to date with business strategies & road maps; technology roadmaps and feeding wider business IT requirements into central infrastructure engineering and strategy teams
- Use knowledge of the business, applications and infrastructure to make pro-active recommendations where improvements can be made
- Determine business requirement and influence solution towards Infrastructure future state model
- Gauge strategic impact to business function, impacted upstream and downstream services and subsequent technology footprint
- Ensure logical design contributes to technology objectives
- Examine potential demise opportunities and propose deployment options
- Consider service placement requirements
- Delivering end to end technical infrastructure designs, ensuring Non-Functional Requirements are realised and validated
- Verify impact to adjacent services/systems and Validate deployment and support model
- Qualify technical acceptance of all components
- Review design and gain approval via the architecture governance framework (e.g. relevant Architecture Review Groups and Design Authorities)
- Optimize commercials and approval
A system engineering background and the ability to compare and contrast different solutions to meet a business requirement. Provide technical thought leadership in evaluation of new technologies to meet business requirements and influence key stakeholders leading to adoption. Have conceptual functional and non-functional knowledge of some of the following areas:
- Data center hardware infrastructure (servers, networking, storage)
- Security technologies such as firewalls, HSMs, proxy servers, IDS/IPS, network segmentation tools
- Identity Access Management (e.g. Active Directory, LDAP, Privileged Access Management tools)
- Cloud technologies such as Google GCP, Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure, as well as APIs, Kubernetes and the ecosystem
- Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub, Nexus)
- Automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Terraform
- Middleware technologies such as Websphere, Tomcat, Java, Messaging, Application Server or Web server
- Networking (e.g. Cisco/F5 devices, TCP/UDP, Broadcast/Multicast, LAN/WAN, SDN)
- Server operating systems internals (Linux, Windows, Solaris),
- Server virtualization, for example VMware, Xen, Hyper-V or KVM
- Storage technologies such as EMC SAN – FC, FCoE, iSCSI, SRDF; NetApp NAS, CIFS, NFS; Object storage
- Database technologies e.g. Oracle, Postgres SQL, NoSQL datastores
- High availability and BCDR techniques such as clustering (VCS & MSCS), data replication etc
- Collaboration tools (e.g. MS Teams, Confluence, Jira)
